Click on the above panels (except Basic) on this page to get an idea of how much space is available in our Standard Page.
This represents what we call the Standard Page from top to bottom - give or take allowing for a bit of flexibility.
The size of the page will vary with the web browser you are using. Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer will truncate the page a little, while Opera truncates the page of bit more. Mozilla's Firefox gives a very accurate impression of its overall size.
Naturally, the size of the font and images, etcetera, that the client chooses will have a direct impact on the amount of information that the standard page can contain.
Pages may be longer, but research has shown that visitors are not keen to work down a page that is too long.
It can make reading a long item difficult, particularly when the reader may need to go back up the page to locate information, and there is no navigation to allow him/her to do that.
It is for this reason that we occasionally use widgets, as these can reduce the number of individual pages a visitor needs to link to. This current page, for instance, contains a widget and as can be seen, it actually comprises five pages all in one.
The Web Steps page contains another style of widget, and this page too has reduced five viewing pages to one.
Pages may contain:
- Frames;
- Tables;
- Cells;
- Databases;
- eCommerce;
- Widgets;
- Image and graphic content;
- Textual content;
- Shockwave/Flash;
- Video;
- Audio *, and
- a host of other techniques or information according to client needs.
* NOTE: Audio files are generally downloaded to the computer's hard disk if a download manager is applied to the web browser. As these files may be quite large, downloading could possibly take some time.
